Founded in 1844 Vail is the oldest family-owned furniture store in America.  Located in the former Bank of Ripley, Jewelers Touch offers diamond rings and watches  as well as custom made jewelry in an attmosphere that resemebles a nostalgic toy store.

Just outside of town, Appalachian Distillery makes and sells multiple flavors of moonshine.  The Jackson County Farmer’s Market has locally grown seasonal produce.
